Film Wrap

After a grueling 4 months it looks as though WOTS's first feature film production, Pray for Dawn will finish shooting in the coming week. We will then proceed directly to the post production phase. I would like to thank the cast and crew for their time and effort. It was difficult after losing locations to weather, and such, but you all pulled through, and made this an enjoyable experience. I cannot wait to finalize this feature so that I may begin our next project

B Movie Celebration - Franklin Indiana

I spent the week-end in Franklin, Indiana, attending the IndyFilm Co-Op B Movie Celebration. Franklin is a small mid-western town, marked notably by a small college and a historic downtown theater, the Artcraft. Nestled among turn of the century Victorian stately homes and 1920s bungalows, Franklin is as classic as the double feature drive-in.

Michael Packer

Michael was born in Indianapolis and grew up in rural Greenfield, Indiana. There he became active in his high-schools Drama Club and student newspaper.

With a focus on art in high-school, he went on to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. There he studied in the fine arts programs while also dabbling in the time arts classes, delving heavily into video editing and image manipulation.

Returning to Indiana, Michael went on to spend time as a music journalist and photographer for a local paper and city related websites (Nuvo, IndianapolisMusic.Net, IndyScribe, IndyGoth).

In addition to playing in a local punk rock band, Michael enjoys web design, plenty of video games, palm trees, and laying mulch.

Dan Van Duyn

In a post apocalyptic world, one man would create a machine that would destroy the summit of a humanity's fears and dreams, and that would be THE ROBOT THAT---oh wait, I am getting ahead of myself.

Dan Van Duyn was born the youngest of four children to a rural family 20 miles east of Indianapolis. Early in his childhood he took to reading and writing, enjoying stories of all types. At this young age he met WJ on a school bound bus one morning, and they became fast and enduring friends.

Throughout the later years of Middle and High school, WJ and Dan's similar interests and attitudes in life helped them form a creative and comedic bond, which only cemented their friendship further. They would make up ad-lib short stories, seeing who could outdo one another in outlandishness of plot device and inventiveness of plot turns. High school saw this creative tension develop into skit comedy in drama class, both in improvisational comedy and comedic vignettes, as well as the epic story "Mad Tiff: Beyond Hoosier Dome" (althought honestly WJ created virtually all of the plot content).

During the college years, Dan and WJ split briefly to explore their separate paths. Dan worked toward a degree in education as well as in world history. During off times, Dan would try his hand at writing narrative prose in the form of adventure short stories.

After graduating with a BA in Secondary Education, Dan grew frustrated with the politics of teaching, and decided to strike at a more creative career path. Luckily for Dan, WJ has started the beginnings of a truly great writing partnership, Writers of the Storm. In this partnership WJ has given Dan the opportunity to join this incredibly talented ring of individuals to produce some of the most original and high quality material the film industry has yet to see.

Doug Hardy

Doug grew up in a small town in Illinois named Westville. Growing up in a small town with nothing to do his focus turned immediately to sports. With his father being a hall of fame basketball coach it seemed college basketball was in his future. However, after a basketball accident shattered his left arm, sports took a back seat to his new future plans of not knowing what to do.

After a small time at Illinois State, Doug moved to Indianapolis to start over anew. He joined a band named Titus as their lead singer. As a member of Titus he quickly developed his writing technique writing original songs for the band. The band, now known as Project Hero (www.projectheroband.com) still uses some of the material he’s written to this day.

While waiting for the record contract he worked at a fine dining Italian restaurant where he met WJ. The life long friendship had begun. Doug met the rest of the Storm crew through WJ.

Doug now lives in Florida selling real estate, just like the rest of the people who live there and aren’t retired. He continues to hold true to his upbringing - staying in close touch with his friends and family, being a true Cubs fan, and staying close with God. In his off times he enjoys video games, movies, music, sports, and video games. Someday when he retires his goals are to travel a lot... and play video games.

Stuart Ough

Though lacking the proper accolades, Stuart spent a short period dabbling in stage acting during his school days. However he realized his greater passion was with the creative writing and design process. Since graduating from Cornell College with a bachelor's degree in business and art he has spent a few early years playing the cliché role of "starving artist by day and waiter by night" while he co-authored and published three pop-culture gift books with the company buzz boxx. Always one to push himself, he refocused himself on design and has had a successful career as a professional web designer and IT consultant. Stuart also returned to school and is currently finishing a Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction.

It was during graduate school and working for corporate America that he finally realized it was time to grow up and pursue his dream of writing for film and television. Writers of the Storm is that perfect opportunity to Stuart to use both is business acumen learned from years of "playing it safe" as well as his wildly childlike creative powers and endless energy.

Lastly, having an adventurous streak as well as martial arts training, Stuart craves action and has also set his sites on getting a short cameo in one of their films in which he portrays a lackey who meets his demise in a notable, albeit likely violent, manner.
